Hi mP....Interesting assertions. I need to research this.Which may or may not happen. I am under the impression tho that there are more accounts of 1st century christianity (and maybe even Christ) than what the Bible tells us. Curious tho: How do you figure that Paul had no knowledge of Jesus is so limited, and that he knows nothing of the other 11 apostles.....have you read the greek scriptures?.....the the Catholics preserved, edited, and otherwise oversaw. I need to hear more...this isn'tjiving for me.

If Jesus arrived in Kingdom Power in 1914....is he a lame-duck savior?
by Big Mama ininteresting scripture at 1 cor.
11:14 " for as often as you eat this loaf and drink this cup, you keep proclaiming the death of the lord, until he arrives.
" the teaching and belief of jehovah's witnesses is that jesus took kingdom power in the heavens in 1914 at the same time throwing satan out and down to the vicinity of the earth.

I have a theory that the validity of the Bible ended at the end of the 1st century with the death of the apostles and an influx of other 'christian' beliefs. This is partly fueled by the cessation of 'gifts in men, prophesying, speaking in tongues, healing' etc, etc. Possibly the whole 144,000 were collected together by then, and the need for those acts as proof of Gods approval ended. That would mean that we're left with the Bible as a guide book (not a rule book as the 1st century christian were beholden to it), and the ransom of Jesus as a scape goat and sacrifice for our sins. When viewed from this angle, it becomes apparent that many scriptures that applied to 1st century christians, do not have a thing to do with us. We are then no longer trying to drive a square peg into a round hole. Just my 2c....and maybe I'm waaaaay off.

Hi Smiddy....My argument was taken from the point of view the JW's have.....beyond that I could argue either way,but not convincingly, because where I am right now....I'm not only not convinced of much at all; I'm somewhat confused on many points. It's what happens when you spend 57 of 63 years behind the bars of the W.T. When you're finally free in the daylight, it's so blinding it takes a bit to focus again.

I feel bad for Candace and Kathleen....I can't imagine thinking it's finally over to find the next morning it isn't. But....and please correct me if I'm wrong, the appeal is not a rehearing. It is a re-hash of the case to be sure everything followed the letter of the law, and nothing that could be deemed questionable went unattended thru the hearing.or 2nd trial. To the best of our knowledge, is that correct??

I agree completely with Mr Q. I seems that the only loving thing to do is to try to educate people about what they are involved in. For some, ignorance has been, currently is, and always will be, bliss. But even those should not be ignorant of what the WTB&TS is, and what Jehoavh's Witnesses are. To that end I send out emails to those who's addresses I have informing them of past and current events of the Dubs. Subjects I have covered include a political history of the Witnesses from pre-WWII anti-Semitism and sympathy for Hitler's Nazi Germany, thru the U.N. debacle, and including the OSCE. Also baptism, and it's not meeting Jesus' instructions to 'baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the holy ghost'. Of course the pedophile situation hasn't been overlooked either. I try to make clear that my purpose is simply education. Once a person knows, they can make a wise choice for themselves whether or not to get involved or remain involved.
I have been anticipating the 100 year mark also; wondering (hoping) that it may mark a '100 year revolution'. I doubt that such a thing will happen, but the work of educating needs to continue. I have been 'out' 5 1/2 years and treasure the freedom it has bought me. Phizzy, the only way it can shrivel to nothing is thru a concerted education of those still in, who have the fortitude to look at both sides of the coin, as we have. Designer Stubble: I'm with you...it's hard. The best thing we can do is try to share truth about the truth the with others. To that end, we should promote the soon-to-be-released movie "Truth Be Known" www.hereliesthetruth.com as best as we are able.

I see from your notes 1 Cor 11:26 was not considered (only the preceeding verses from that paragraph starting at vs 23)....funny, I posted on this thread moments ago thoughts on verse 26, asking if perhaps Jesus is a lame-duck savior. IF I am correct in my observations, it serves only to corroborate and verify my thoughts as posted.

Interesting scripture at 1 Cor. 11:14 " For as often as you eat this loaf and drink this cup, you keep proclaiming the death of the Lord, until he arrives." The teaching and belief of Jehovah's Witnesses is that Jesus took kingdom power in the heavens in 1914 at the same time throwing Satan out and down to the vicinity of the Earth. If Jesus is in power in the heavens; he has arrived. Thus, the Memorial of his death is a mute point. Of course the Witnesses will argue that we are waiting for him to exercise that authority of kingship and kingdom power towards his followers on Earth, and until he does all should commeorate his death. If Jesus took power in the heavens in 1914, and has allowed thousands of his loyal followers to be beaten, raped, tortured, executed and in any manner you could imagine harmed and disdained, it begs the question: Is Jesus a lame-duck savior?
I would argue that he is not. Rather the simple truth is that he has not taken power anywhere, and is waiting for the right time at his Fathers signal to step into that position as King and Savior of humankind.
For this reason I dismiss the memorial of Christs death as a non-event. Celebrating it, memorializing it, even recognizing it is a slap in the face to Gods son.
